Helmut Donnhoff makes the best wines in the Nahe region and some of the finest anywhere in the world. When I first tasted his estate dry Riesling I actually cried a little, sad but true.

Amazingly the vineyards grow at an average altitude of 700 mt. a.s.l. Yes we killed a new merc getting up the mountain and yes we crossed a very small, very high suspension bridge to get to the vineyard. A blend of Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, showing both floral and fruity flavours.
2006 Livio Felluga Bianco DOC Rosenplatz

Ok, this Felluga wine is a blend of French grapes Chardonnay & Sauvignon Blanc & a touch of Grigio, made by an Italian, served in a Riesling bottle with a Germanic sounding name Rosenplatz…. But is that not what we love about drinking outside the box !
2009 Beach Road Wines Greco di Tufo - Langhorne Creek SA 48
Ancient white variety from Campania Italy. Briony is sourcing the fruit from private vineyards owned by elderly Italo-Australian growers in SA. Lime, jasmine, pear, mineral and crisp.

Sometimes the whole is more than the sum of the parts. This wine is a skillful balancing act of components. Think ripe, unwooded Chardonnay packed with stone fruit flavours.

Soave Soave Soave... it always makes me happy. Unfortunately / fortunately, Soave with its tricky to pronounce grape varirty of Garganega, will mean that it probably will not become the Sauvignon Blanc of next year. Well that’s just fine with me.

Fiano is one of the new hip grape varieties in Australia at the moment, everyone is experimenting and different styles are emerging. Well these guys are doing it right in Puglie Italy, taste this and grasp what all the hype is about.

Sardinia is just the kind of place you want to hang out in… and as for the food… well how much seafood can you eat? Heaps. Fruity and rich from loads of Sardinian sun with a slightly bitter almond finish.

Santa Barbera specialise in Verdicchio and produce probably one of the regions best, clean, fresh and super seafood friendly.
2008 Poggiotondo Trebbiano Malvasia Vermentino IGT - Toscana Italy 40
Aromatic and well structured: this wine proves that Trebbiano when blended is not a dull as a day out with your grandma, feeding the ducks, whilst wearing a brown three button cardigan.
